Help with sleeping routines and discipline

Me and my wife a both ND mix of AuDHD to a different extent for both of us. We struggle with sleep in that only one of us seems to be able to fall asleep at a reasonable time as the other will then end up being awake until 2-3am. It doesn’t seem to be snoring or fidgeting in their sleep, more like once one is asleep the others brain just strings to life.

As you can imagine this means that having a regular sleep pattern is very difficult for both us therefore leading to unstable mood.

If anyone can shed some light on methods that we could try I would appreciate it a lot.

(We often use chamomile teas and valerian root tablets)

Well it could just be your individual natural sleep patterns. But things like - screen time, what you do in the last hour or two before bed could impact this. That said I actually seem to be able to even use a tablet or Kindle for 30 mins before sleeping and I drop off, with music (chill/sleep or even thunder and lightening palylist on Spotify) on an Echo speaker (Partly to mask my tinnitus).

If you're not tired no point trying to go to sleep either , get up and do something and you may hit another sleep window (can't remember the name). I generally am now going to be earlier sometimes 10:30 but usually no later than 11-11:30 but used to saty up until 2-3 at weekends, now I try to keep the same pattern 7 days a week

My husband and I have different sleep challenges so we've taken to sleeping in different bedrooms. I realise that's not an option for everyone but it's made a huge positive difference for us. We have a routine of saying goodnight when I go to bed, then he goes downstairs for a bit.
