Companies specialised in hiring people with autism?

Are there many companies like this? So far I have only seen Auticon.

Alternatively, are there any schemes that help autistic people to find work that will be suitable and supportive for them?

Currently stuck in a job that is taking its toll on my mental and physical health.

I have a part time job I do flexibly, mostly from home which works for me. Technically employers are supposed to make reasonable adjustments, but I think identifying your needs and what really stresses you is a good starting point to finding a more suitable job. There is access to work but sadly not currently much help for autistics to find more suitable jobs.

well you can look for Disability Confident Employers - but sadly that is another UK Gov initiative that is largely a PR exercise (to make companies look good) the scheme is not audited or vetted - so don;t expect any special Neuro-inclusive treatment

Work takes a huge toll on ND's (hence why the employment rates are shockingly low) so moving make actually be no better than staying put - tbh most places how you feel about your job comes down to your manager and HR (sadly we have to deal with these) and these will mostly be NTs who have little to no clue about Autism and Neurodiversity, other than a quick online course.

I would recommend joining a Union - then speaking to them - and using Reasonable Adjustments to try and at least make your current position better. Then if you decide it ain't worth it and you see something else - then at least you've had good practice of understand the process (actually the disability act does not require companies to actually have a process for reasonable adjustments including a workplace needs assessment) so that another piece of fairly useless UK legislation

As @MadCatLady say you can apply for ATW - but the current wait from application to funding is 37 wks - I do believe this can alsoo help with job search. I've no experience of ATW but hear some have had good help from private companies as I think you get a certain fund depending on your needs/

I know where you're coming from, and I have thrown in the towel several times in the past (way before I knew I was AuDHD) but the job market overall at the moment is awful (from p*ss poor UK Gov's for past 50 years) so I'd advise that is a last resort

Take with a pinch of salt as it's obviously AI generated, but I was wondering something similar a few months ago, and asked Claude to have a look. Here's a a chat about that, basically it came up with:
  • Enna (enna.org) — London-based, works remotely UK-wide; free jobseeker registration. I'd flagged this as the strongest bet for your specific post-interview-feedback need.
  • Exceptional Individuals (exceptionalindividuals.com) — neurodivergent-led social enterprise, candidate-employer matching.
  • auticon (auticon.com/uk) — different model: they directly employ autistic people as IT consultants rather than placing you elsewhere. Flagged as relevant given your technical background.
  • Autism Plus Specialist Employment Services (autismplus-employmentservices.co.uk) — workplace guidance, mentoring, interview prep.
  • Employment Autism (employmentautism.org.uk) — not an agency, a resource; useful page on requesting interview feedback with template emails.
I've not personally looked any further into any of these yet, so can't provide any first-hand info on them.
