Welcome! Not a gamer anymore, ill leave that to @Fractured Elderberry. I love reading books, I'm hoping to start a course in philosophy soon, along with learning BSL which I really enjoy at present.
don't live far from brum, close enough that ppl not fromt he area say i sound like a brummie but a brummie would never say it, will be up St Andrews monday to watch the blues.
Yeah, I like that one also - it's got good story, player agency, voice acting etc.
Wrath of the Righteous also in my opinion has a cracking story and good player agency, but with very little voice acting, is text heavy, and is a more faithful implementation of the RPG rules it's based on (Pathfinder ruleset as opposed to D&D), has about 26 base classes, each with 7+ archtypes to choose from, plus 12 Prestige classes, and 10 mythic classes on top of that. Plus 6 expansions / DLCs.
If that's your bag, it's hard to beat in my view. But I agree, BG3 is likely to be more to most people's tastes.
