Welcome to our Pathway Mentoring Programme.
Employment provides a sense fulfilment, recognition and belonging. Research has shown that employment is central to autistic sense of wellbeing and quality of life, yet 77% of autistic people are unemployed and want to work, 58% among them want and need some help getting into employment.
Research by Damian Milton and his colleagues has shown that time-limited, goal-directed mentoring helps autistic people deal with challenges and realise potential & ambitions, it demonstrated progress towards goals and an improvement to the wellbeing of autistic participants.
Our programme is based on Dr Milton’s study and designed with his participation. It is developed by autistic people for autistic people.
The Programme has three elements:
- Online one to one mentoring,
- An online support group,
- An online course composed of series of webinars and talks.
Weekly person centred one to one mentoring helps to formulate and progress towards your goal. It could be anything that would make a significant difference to your wellbeing and would help to boost your confidence.
The support group will provide peer support, advice and a sense of community and help to build positive autism identity that is also key for autistic wellbeing.
The Pathway course will provide helpful resources and a timeline to underpin the mentoring and progression towards your personal goal. Designed and delivered by autistic people it will provide helpful resources and will take you through various aspects of what it means to be autistic in the 21 century.
Please note that the Pathway programme
- Is not a substitute for mental health or care support you may have received or are awaiting.
- Is not a programme for ‘fixing’ the autistic person – It is more about listening to you and working with you in helping you to identify, clarify and resolve issues.
- We do not offer legal advice or detailed advice on entitlements or benefits.
All of our course materials, videos and webinars are provided for general information only. Their contents do not represent legal or medical advice. Their content represents original work and are protected by copyrights and are intellectual property of NDSA Partnership C.I.C.
We hope you will enjoy the programme and find it helpful in progressing towards your goals.
