What services should we develop to autistic adults

Members on our forum were asked what are their priorities for developing new services for autistic adults.

Their answers were:

  • Transforming the attitudes to autism in society, autism acceptance

  • Mental health and wellbeing

  • Employment

  • Helping to manage transitions

  • Relationships

With these priorities in mind we are launching Pathway - a new mentoring programme aiming to support wellbeing. We are also running Tool Up mentoring into employment programme.

What other services that are lacking should we develop?

Any comments and ideas welcome!

There needs to be better support in work, ideally, an official body that or organisation that can actually step in and push employers to take responsibility for ND staff as most of the Autistic groups I have worked with can only offer advise and support, they wont actually intercede on you behalf and finding it hard to get in touch with ACAS. I have had advise gvien on three occassions and been told they dont have to follow it, but, there seems few organisation who are will to step in and say "yes you do."
