Neurodivergent Mindfulness - Online Session

Hello

Following on from conversations about Emotional Intelligence I thought this free online session (linked below) might be of interest to those interested in mindfulness.

I teach mindfulness (MBCT) and over the years it has connected me back to a sense of myself and my body..it has helped me develop understanding and compassion towards recognizing my needs and supporting them and an overall sense of autonomy. I am not a Buddhist but very aware of the roots of secular mindfulness.

Sharing this session as Cheetah House has done much work around safety in mindfulness. Previous sessions on autistic people and mindfulness research have been affirmative and supportive. One of the facilitators, is UK based Kelly Birtwell who is doing great work in the area of affirmative support for autistic people in her research.

All the best

Thanks so much for sharing this, Susan. Mindfulness can be really powerful, especially when it’s tailored to neurodivergent needs. I’ve tried a few MBCT-style exercises before, and having guidance that affirms autistic experiences makes a big difference in feeling supported rather than overwhelmed.

I’ll definitely try to join the session on the 15th. For anyone else following this thread, even a few minutes of these exercises can help build awareness and calm without feeling forced into a rigid routine.

Did you make it along? I went for the first few minutes but I am recovering from an Op and was in too much discomfort to stay...sad to miss it. Hopefully will make the next one, I agree with you about tailored practices! I like practices where there are different options for attention anchors.
