This lesson is about financial support available from the government and charities.
When leaving prison, you will be looking to re-build your life and reintegrate into society. This will be much harder to do without financial assistance as you begin to look for a job.
There are a variety of benefits and financial support you may be entitled to when you leave prison. According to the government’s website on ‘Leaving prison‘, people leaving prison may be entitled to the following benefits:
- Universal Credit
- Jobseeker’s Allowance
- help from your local council
- Scottish Welfare Fund in Scotland
Having a Disability such as having Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) may also entitle you to Personal Independence Payment.
