Lesson 18 – Autistic burnout
This lesson is about autistic burnout.
Autistic burnout is a phenomenon that can happen to an autistic individual when they become overwhelmingly exhausted, so they can’t cope with their daily routine: be this their job, expectations from family, caring for a relative or masking to seem neurotypical to others, for example. A burnout is categorised by feeling extremely exhausted and fatigued, having no motivation nor energy to continue to fulfil their life’s status quo as-is.
