We do not pass your\npersonal, identifiable information about you to anyone except in circumstances\nrequired by law, e.g. with a court order.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Only anonymised, aggregated\nbrowsing data is stored by google analytics for the purpose of us improving the\nusers experience on our site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3><strong>How your personal information\nis used<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>We use the following types of personal\ndata to improve your user experience and to improve the features of this site:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Email address \u2013 used to register you on the site and to keep in touch with our members with regular updates and newsletters. However, you can opt-in to or opt-out of such emails in your profile.<\/li><li>Location \u2013 as you enter it, helps us to develop more relevant service for all users.<\/li><li>Date of birth \u2013 if you share it may be used to confirm that you are old enough to use our forum as agreed in the NDSA terms and conditions. <\/li><li>IP address, and time zone  are recorded when you perform certain actions on our site. Your IP address is never publicly visible.  They are  used so that the site recognises you when you return, to improve the user experience and develop the service. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>We also collect information that you choose to share with us under your account details. The information that you provide is optional and can be changed  by yourself  according to your preferences under your account settings. This information is only displayed by your choice if you would like to help others visiting your account to better understand your circumstances: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Avatar \u2013 you may choose\nan anonymous image or personal photo. This helps to personalise your\ninteractions with others. <\/li><li>Information about your\nconditions\u2013 this helps others to better understand and relate to your\ncircumstances<\/li><li>Any personal data that\nyou may choose to share with other members included in the \u2018About You\u2019 section\nof your account details.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3><strong>Forum Posts<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Posts on the forum are visible\nto all forum members, moderators and the public. You will need to keep this in\nmind when choosing to share any personal information about yourself, including\nthe metadata of the media you upload. It is therefore advisable to choose a user\nname that doesn\u2019t identify you personally. The posts you choose to make do not\nfall under personal information. Users will also need to be aware of the NDSA\nterms and conditions about posting private and confidential information about\nthemselves and others. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3><strong>Other ways we may use your\ninformation<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>We may collect non-personally\nidentifiable information about you in the course of your interaction with our\nsite through Google Analytics. &nbsp;This\ninformation may include technical information about the browser or type of\ndevice you\u2019re using and is only used for the purposes of analytics and tracking\nthe number of visitors to our site. However, we do not pass your personal data\nto Google or anyone else. The data that we collect is used to provide a helpful service, and to\ndevelop and improve the service for members. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3><strong>How long do we keep your personal data for?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>We will store your personal data for as long as required.\nHowever, users may contact us if they no longer wish to use the site and want\ntheir data erased. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3><strong>Keeping your data secure<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Protecting your data and your privacy\nis important to us.
